Vision

Why am I running for State Senate?

I believe in good government. I believe in government that brings people together. Government that inspires people. But more important, one that offers a hand up, not a hand out. Our country was founded on the promise that if you work hard and play by the rules, you have chance for a better life. Our system offered in return policies that made the playing field more equitable for all people. Yet our system is repeatedly co-opted by special interests and business interests, leaving little room for the interests of the working person. Massachusetts has led the country on some of the most important issues from education to health care. But we can do better. We must do better.

I have the experience, skills and knowledge to lead Cape Cod and the Islands forward. I am the right person to represent Cape Cod’s unique culture and population, just as I have as chairwoman of the Barnstable County Board of Commissioners. Along with the unique geography that makes the Cape and Islands recognizable from space come unique challenges. We must protect our fragile environment, guarantee a dignified life for our seniors, and create sustainable jobs offering a living wage to the thousands of families struggling to make ends meet.

Top Three Issues:

The Environment

As your State Senator I will work to access more State and Federal dollars to help us correct the damage as, together, we confront our responsibilities. | Read More.

Seniors

Working as a geriatric social worker for nearly 20 years, I have helped families and seniors work through the issues that aging presents, such as fixed incomes, the rising cost of living, lack of transportation, isolation, and the lack of adequate health care. | Read More.

The Economy & Jobs

As your next State Senator, I will fight to create sustainable, well paying jobs on the Cape and Islands. I will fight for school funding that will provide the skills our children need to master and create the technology of tomorrow. I will fight for the funds we need to build a new and creative economy right here on the Cape and Islands. | Read More.
